Hello, welcome!
I’m Ruth.
I am an architectural designer creating thoughtful spaces and objects that connect culture, craft, and community.

I’m Ruth Wondimu, an Architectural Designer based in the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia region. With several years of experience designing across scales—from large residential and commercial projects to intimate hospitality and interiors—I bring both technical rigor and an eye for craft to every project. My background spans architecture, interiors, furniture, lighting, and product design, rooted in a belief that meaningful design emerges from the integration of environmental responsibility, cultural identity, and human connection.
Alongside my architectural work, I am the Co-Founder of Zelaki Studio, a design-driven venture that celebrates Ethiopian heritage through contemporary art, fashion, and product design. Through Zelaki, I explore how culture, community, and storytelling can extend beyond buildings into everyday life.
Whether I am producing construction sets for complex renovations, designing beautiful spaces, or developing a collection that merges tradition with modern design, my work is guided by a commitment to craft, sustainability, and community impact. My vision is to continue bridging architecture, sustainability, and cultural design to shape spaces, objects, and experiences that inspire, connect, and endure.
This website contains primarily my academic and personal work. Please email me at rhwondimu@gmail.com to request additional work samples.
