The Fabric in Between

African Satellite School Competition Proposal

Design Team: Nada Shuaib, Nifemi Onabanjo, Haime Hailu, Ruth Wondimu

This design solution understands that the school is the community’s shared property that is protected and celebrated as a second home for its students and the society’s traditions. Therefore, creating a community ownership of the school design was a critical focus. This ownership is reflected in the simplicity of its construction techniques where community members can adapt. It is also visible in different scales and types of gathering spaces around the site where school and community events can be obtained.
