Reconnecting South Providence
How do you re-integrate an area that has been cut off from its neighborhood with the I95 highway?
How do you start to regain food security and supply infrastructure at the scale of a subcity?
How can architecture play a role?
To answer these questions, I am proposed a multi-use farm that reclaims land that had been zoned for industrial use. I am proposed a grocery store, green house, aquaponic garden, and other additional educational facilities to serve the south providence community.
The city’s industrial waterfront has been adversely impacting two nearby neighborhoods for generations. Therefore, part of this project also looks at ways of incorporating environmental techniques in farming to clean the soil and help regain a healthier environment.
